About Daniel
Daniel Burgess is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who specializes in marriage counseling, couples therapy, and sexual health—with a unique focus on the Mormon faith spectrum.
After more than 40 years as an active Latter-day Saint, Daniel recently left the church. It was one of the hardest decisions of his life. And it’s also what makes him uniquely equipped to serve couples on both sides of that journey—those who are deeply committed to their faith, those who are questioning or leaving, and those navigating different faith paths within the same marriage.
Daniel doesn’t have an agenda for your faith. His only goal is helping you build a marriage that is authentic, connected, and deeply yours—wherever you are on the spectrum.
He specializes in sexless marriage counseling, purity culture healing, religious trauma recovery, LDS couples therapy, and faith transition support. He works with clients in-person in Utah and online nationally.
Daniel holds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from John F. Kennedy University, as well as a B.S. in Corporate Finance. He and his wife, Julie, are the parents of two sons and three daughters.
